TASER
Sheriff Bobby Hammons
The Scott Sheriffs Office choose the yellow Taser to
prevent peoples misconception of it being a firearm.
The Scott County Sheriffs Office has used the Taser for several
years now with complete satisfaction.
TASER technology is used across America and overseas. Over
2,500 law enforcement agencies have purchased TASER
systems for full deployment. TASER products penetrate the
private security and private citizen markets, and provide the law
enforcement community with safer use of force alternatives.
Effective less lethal weapons increase the safety of law
enforcement officers, decrease suspect injuries, improve
community relations, reduce litigation and law enforcement
medical and liability insurance costs, and save lives. Scott
County Sheriffs Office authorizes the use of other weapons,
including pepper sprays, expandable batons, bean bags and
electronic control devices such as TASER products.
TASER devices are among the safest, most effective use of
force tools available to law enforcement officers today.
Ask the deputies who carry the TASER what they think about.
Taser X-26 as used by Scott County Sheriffs Office.
The TASER uses proprietary technology to momentarily incapacitate dangerous,
combative, non compliant or high-risk subjects that may be resistant to other less
lethal/non-lethal means. The technology of the Taser is effective regardless of pain
tolerance, drug use, or body size in most cases. The Taser uses high voltage with very
low amperage to temporarily over ride the body's ability to fight with law enforcement.
This gives the deputy the opportunity to take the offender in to custody with out injuries.
One question we are asked, does the Taser hurt? Answer yes, it hurts the entire time its
on. The Taser is effective out to 15 feet, so the deputy can be at a safe distance when
its deployed.
